Kaivalya Trust

Presence in: Valsad
Founder: Aparna Kadikar

Activity:

The Kaivalya Trust was founded by a group of Friends to provide a supportive and conducive environment that would benefit the Adivasis of Dharampur Taluka (Dist: Valsad, South Gujarat, India). Kedi Residential High School is a residential school for the tribal girls founded & managed by The Kaivalya Trust (ESTD. 2000 A .D.).

The focus of Kedi Residential School is on bringing about a transformation in the quality of learning in the classroom and thereby in the school and community so that the change is sustainable and it will benefit all members, the children, the teachers and the immediate society.

Kedi Residential High School has the most unique educational curriculum among other residential schools of its kind in this rural part of the district. Commitment to the challenging program is vital from students, teachers and parents. Education, boarding, meal, clothing, and medical care to more than 100 girls of economically deprived tribal areas are free-of-charge. Every student at Kedi arrives here by choice.

A powerful force for individuals actively working in the fields of education in India is the acknowledgement of the significant disparity between the qualities of education received by children from varying monetary classes.

From 1947 into the mid-1980s, 10% of children, mainly from the rich and middle class urban populations, were provided with quality education. The remaining 90% of children were given a meager education with no apparent outcome. The flourishing economy, however, demanded higher performance standards from the Indian population, thus leading to Indian educational reform.

Support:

Children, Women, Tribal, Rural poor, Education, Gujarat

Note:

We are looking for support for education of tribal girl children. We aim to provide free education, lodging, boarding and vocational training to 100 tribal girls who have to drop out or are rejected from school because of parental or socio economic restrictions. It costs us INR 9950 to support one girl child for one year.
