Add your personality - If you are writing on a particular topic, there are a number of people who will be writing on the same topic. So you need to add that specialty to your blog to make it look different and to allow your readers to take away something that the others are not offering.
Formatting - Your post need not be a circus. If you are not good with formatting, then stick to a theme that is light and descent in colors and the post layout. If you are good with trying new stuff then use that skill to better express through colors, fonts and layouts. Avoid colors that are dark and fonts that are overtly bright.
E-commerce bloggers can gradually choose to write curated content from other websites/blogs. That always helps because a buyer will generally not spend much time surfing. He/she will appreciate it if you provide most of what they are looking for.
