Is MicroPigmentation The New IT Thing In Hair Treatments??
I grew up in the 90s where technology was limited to AOL and pagers. Beauty treatments were just your regular haircuts and brow waxes And no one thought these two would ever come together. Cut to now – where technology is used in getting brows to look full and natural, injectables to fluff up your lips and my favorite – Hair treatments for hair losses and baldness! I have so many friends that are plagued with massive hair loss in their 30s. The men are balding and some women resort to wigs. My own Mother in law had an awful reaction to some new treatment and lost all her hair for a couple of years – even eyelashes. Her confidence just zapped. People would stare and ask weird questions and she resorted to wearing a scarf at all times - her luscious hair was her Pride! We felt so helpless at her despair, we thought it was time to explore treatment options. I, being an Analyst, started my research in hair treatments when the word MicroPigmentation caught my eye. SMP (Scalp Micropigmentation) is a new, innovative technique that is non-surgical and SAFE! The technician uses a specialized S.M.P. pen that implants pigment into the client’s scalp in the form of tiny dots. This is done to mimic the appearance of closely shaven follicles. Some clients think this is a hair transplant but no hair is moved in the process. Many beauty influencers on social media such as Instagram are talking about the latest hair trends such as microblading, micropigmentation and eyebrow tattooing as a way of enhancing their facial features. Micropigmentation is an innovative cosmetic treatment that allows clients to enhance their features through implanting pigment into the skin's dermal layer. This lasts much longer compared to other methods and will need to be re-touched every two to five years. SMP gives you the illusion of a close buzz cut hairstyle on a bald head. SMP can be used to add density to a thinning hairline even if you are not bald. Many people worry about the pain involved with scalp micropigmentation. Since only the outer layer is treated, this is less painful than a traditional tattoo. As with all treatments, aftercare is an integral step for any seamless procedure. Your stylist/ studio will definitely take their time to explain all the things one can avoid. But in my research, nothing I came across was a deal-breaker or massive inconvenience by any means. Where can I have this done? Ohio SMP Studio is located right here in Ohio! It is an hour drive from Columbus to Galion, Ohio. Does the technician have experience? YES! Meet SMP artist Clayton Rush, an award-winning master barber who has been in the hair industry over twenty years! He opened his first barbershop in 1989 and now owns three successful barber shops. He has seen every type of hairline, hair texture, hair color, and thickness. His life was changed during his own personal hair loss journey. Microblading uses a handheld machine, such as a bladed pen or a small electric machine to create hair like strokes to mimic natural hair growth. However, micropigmentation or permanent makeup creates a shaded effect on the skin to give you the look of 'ombre brows'. A digital machine is used and the pigment will be implanted deeper into the skin. Whereas microblading is designed for eyebrow treatments, micropigmentation can be used for a range of treatments including lip liner, hair loss and scar camouflage. I would like to add though that eventually, you are the master of your own look. The treatments and the wigs are at your service. But if you want to rock your bald look - more power to you! These are just some of the ways that one could use to camouflage or rectify their look. If you are on this journey yourself then do share your options with me.
