तंज़ानिया की लेक नाट्रन कोई जादुई भूतहा तमाशा नहीं है कुछ समुद्री शैवालों और जीवाणुओं का कुदरती आवास है तो फ्लेमिंगो का प्रजजन स्थल है ,केंद्र है.अलबत्ता चूंकि इस झील में कास्टिक सोडा (साबुन और कागज़ बनाने में प्रयुक्त होता है यह रसायन )और साल्ट (लवण यानी धातु मेटल और अम्ल का एक यौगिक ,नमकीन और खारा ) की सांद्रता बहुत ज्यादा है तथा झील की सतह एक मायावी चमक रिफ़्लेटिविटी लिए रहती है निरीह पक्षी इसके झांसे में आकर डुबकी लगा बैठते हैं जो जानलेवा साबित होती है। इनके ताबूत बन जाते हैं तेज़ तर्रार रासायनिक क्रिया से। पत्थर से कठोर हो जाते हैं ये पक्षी कैल्सियम लवणों के पड़ाव से। आम पक्षियों के जीवन के प्रतिकूल है यह झील.अलबत्ता ये झील ही क्या गहरे सागर की तलहटी में उच्चतर तापमानों (४५० सेल्सियस तथा और भी ज्यादा पर )भी जीवन है अलबत्ता उसका स्वरूप और प्राकृत आवास सामान्य से अलग है। ये दुर्भाग्य पूर्ण है आज विज्ञान पत्रकारिता के नाम पर कई रिसाले न सिर्फ आधी अधूरी जानकारी परोस रहें हैं उत्तेजना पैदा करके आमजन को वजाय शिक्षित करने के भ्रमित कर रहे हैं। न उनका अध्ययन है न वह मेहनत करते हैं बूझने की जबकि आज सब कुछ गूगल बाबा परोस देते हैं। Approaching The Shoreline Of Lake Natron In Tanzania, Photographer Nick Brandt Faced An Eerie Sight: There, Lying On The Earth As Still And Stiff As Statues, Were Calcified Corpses Of A Variety Of Birds And Bats That Had Met Their Untimely Demise After Crashing Into The Deadly Waters. “no One Knows For Certain Exactly How [these Animals] Die, But It Appears That The Extreme Reflective Nature Of The Lake’s Surface Confuses Them, Causing Them To Crash Into The Lake,” Brandt Writes In His New Photo Book Across The Ravaged Land. “the Water Has An Extremely High Soda And Salt Content, So High That It Would Strip The Ink Off My Kodak Film Boxes Within A Few Seconds.
