Facebook Deletes More Than 600 Accounts Linked To New Influence Campaigns Led By Iran And Russia | Techlitic
Facebook deleted a whopping 652 politically-focused accounts on August 21. The accounts were initially spotted by FireEye, a cybersecurity company. It is determined that the accounts have ties to Iran and Russia. The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, said that it was uncovered that the forces behind the accounts were purposefully misleading social media users about their identities and intent. As a result of the findings, the popular social media web site banned the deceptive users.
