The Mahamastakabhisheka means head anointment of the Jain images. One of the well-known head anointment celebrates in Shravanabelagola. It held once in every twelve years. It is an important and an ancient Jain tradition. The Mahamastakabhisheka begins with devotees, who anoint the 58-feet tall monolithic statue of Gommateshwara with water, milk, sugarcane juice, saffron paste, and sprinkled with of sandalwood, turmeric, and vermilion.
